Empowering Dogs and Their Families: Dog Consulting

Chiara Dolzani, Dog Consultant

A Dog Consultant for the mental and physical well-being of your dog.

Why you need a dog consultant for your pup

To most dog owners, dogs are members of the family. Their mental and physical health and their happiness affect the well-being of the entire family. As a dog parent, you may have many medical and behavioral questions about your dog. You may want to know how to raise and develop a mentally healthy, happy, relaxed, and stable dog. These questions are even more pronounced you have just adopted a puppy, which can feel overwhelming.

Unfortunately for all of us, dogs and humans don’t speak the same language, and it is often difficult to interpret their signals and needs. The misunderstandings that ensue lead to frustration and severe stress on both sides. This communication gap alone is enough to warrant having a dog consultant and therapist by your side, helping make your relationship with your pup unique, but above all happy and healthy. When your dog is happy and healthy, you will be able to build a better bond and a strong relationship. Your dog consultant focuses on physical and mental well-being for your life partner, and consequently also for you and your family.

About Chiara Dolzani

DOG CONSULTANT, TRAINER, THERAPIST, PUPPY LIFE COACH

Virtual consulting service and customized training for your dog’s physical and mental wellbeing.

Chiara is a Veterinarian, Dog Trainer, Therapist and Puppy Life Coach. She has 360° knowledge of dogs and over 20 years of experience in this field. Chiara is Italian and has lived in Los Angeles for a few years, and she was one of the original founders of Stardogs. She dedicated her entire adult life to helping dogs and their families live healthy and happy lives. As a veterinarian, she believes in the importance of establishing a direct and familiar relationship with the dog parent. For her, taking care of a patient means always being available for a consultation or even a simple reassurance.

Due to her holistic approach and the European landscape where she has grown up, Chiara offers dog parents a different prospective on their dogs. Chiara has experience across the spectrum of dog breeds and ages, and across most types of dog parenting, both in Italy and Los Angeles. Oftentimes, educating pet owners can be the solution to many dog-related problems. (The big secret is that pup training is mostly owner training!)

It often happens that the dog owner asks for the help of a veterinarian, regarding an episode or a situation that can be easily resolved by a dog consultant or a therapist in a short time and few virtual sessions. It is essential for the well-being of the dog and its parents to have a professional reference figure to rely on periodically and who can answer the many questions that often remain unanswered. Your personal dog therapist will support you and your dog as you navigate current and future decisions regarding the well-being of your dog.

Chiara will help and guide you through a healthy and happy journey with your dog. She will work remotely and will support you and your pup. You can discuss your concerns about your dog’s health and behavior via Zoom from the comfort of your home. All aspects of your dog’s life will be reviewed, including mental well-being, exercise and nutrition. Chiara will work with you on a development plan that will help you build short-term and long-term results in the development of your relationship with your dog.

Are you thinking of getting a puppy or adopting a dog?

Which dog fits your family and lifestyle, your needs and desires?

Whether you are adopting an adult dog or looking for a puppy, it is important to educate yourself on the breed, sex, exercise needs, size, and compatibility with your family's lifestyle. For example, if you enjoy hiking and want to bring your dog with you, maybe a French bulldog is not the perfect fit for you! Being proactive is the first and most important step to achieving success. Chiara will guide you on which dog can be the perfect match for you.

Did you just get a puppy?

When a puppy enters the new home for the first time, it is certainly a joyful event, especially if a child is sharing the moment. Then, after a happy celebration, it is your turn to take specific responsibilities.

The average age of a puppy when joining his/her new family is around two months. This age is just the right moment to give your puppy as many experiences and socialization opportunities as you can.

Chiara will help you introduce your puppy to the new environment as a new member of the family. If you have a child, she will guide you through the best approach to create harmony and respect between the two new friends.

She will figure out the best daily routine and make sure your puppy is happy, healthy and well stimulated.

Everything in this moment is new, to you and to your furry friend, too. And sometimes, even if you have “dog experience” and love dogs, it just happens that what used to work with your previous dog may not work now.

You want to give love and spend amazing time with your pup. On the other hand, it’s important to avoid separation anxiety and make them independent buddies!

Dogs need a schedule. They need to learn good manners and habits, but most of all they need to be understood! Unfortunately, too often dogs’ intentions, feelings, and will may remain unheard!

Puppy blues can sometimes manifest

The “puppy blues” refers to an emotional state of feeling overwhelmed, sad, anxious, or just inappropriate when a new puppy arrives in our life. It’s very important to understand that there is nothing wrong with having these feelings; it just happens. On the other hand, it’s imperative to have the right support for you both: someone who understands your needs, your feelings, and your dog. Sometimes having a new pup in your life and building up a new routine around him may not be exactly how you pictured it. It may take longer to establish the right connection with this new furry friend, and sometimes you may also wonder whether it was a good idea to get a dog; Chiara will help you go through this life transition together, and you will learn the beauty of sharing your life with your dog. Working with a dog consultant can help avoid or address any feelings of exhaustion or being overwhelmed.
